General FAQ

Dr. Lindsey graduated from Michigan State University in 2015 with a BS in Human Biology and a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society. Dr. Lindsey knew that she wanted a career in healthcare and spent many hours shadowing in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics. During her time shadowing, she developed an interest in bioethics and how the doctors were communicating with the patients. She eventually decided that she wanted a career where she could connect with patients, develop a relationship, care for the patient, and follow-up with them as they got better – ideally without drugs or surgery. That’s how Dr. Lindsey ended up at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL. She graduated Magna Cum Laude  with her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in March of 2019 with an Academic Excellence Award. In her last 3 months at Palmer, Dr. Lindsey had the pleasure of working in a busy family chiropractic practice. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Lindsey worked in a chiropractic and natural medicine practice where she gained more experience before deciding to devote all of her time to Comprehensive Natural Healthcare.

Chiropractic FAQ

Chiropractic care is concerned with the structure and function of the spine, extremities, and the nervous system. Chiropractic care includes adjustments or manipulations, therapies, rehabilitative exercise, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. Chiropractic adjustments are applied to the spine and/or extremities to restore proper joint motion, thus reducing pain. Therapies are also useful in reducing muscle tension/inflammation surrounding the dysfunctional joint(s).

On your first visit, Dr. Lindsey will discuss your pain/symptoms with you for approximately 15 minutes. After taking a thorough history, Dr. Lindsey will perform an exam, including orthopedic, neurological, and range of motion components. Dr. Lindsey will determine if any imaging or testing is needed before proceeding with treatment. Your treatment plan will be individualized to you and may include adjustments, therapies, exercise, and lifestyle recommendations.

Dr. Lindsey practices Palmer Package, which consists of Diversified, Gonstead, and Thompson drop. She is also trained in Flexion Distraction, Webster Technique, Activator, Sacro-Occipital Technique, and McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (Parts A&B).

At Comprehensive Natural Healthcare, we have access to heat/cold therapy, electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, and Class IV Laser therapy.

Yes! Dr. Lindsey is trained in Webster Technique and is happy to care for moms (&baby) before, during, & after the pregnancy!

It is Dr. Lindsey’s goal to get you better as quickly as possible, but your time frame for care is dependent on your condition at the initiation of care, as well as your compliance with any assigned exercise or lifestyle homework. After getting back to normal, many patients like to visit periodically for maintenance care, but no extended treatment plans are utilized.

Functional Medicine FAQ

During your first visit, Dr. Lindsey will spend approximately 60-90 minutes with you talking about your health concerns and history. She will then perform a physical examination which will include vitals and regional examinations as needed. Dr. Lindsey will then order any necessary labs, review them, and recommend a treatment protocol which may include supplementation, dietary changes, exercise, stress reduction, and other lifestyle modifications.

“Functional medicine is not the medicine of “what,” but the medicine of why.”

Functional medicine is a holistic form of healthcare that aims to address the underlying cause of disease. It analyzes all body systems and their interactions with each other. No one system can stand alone, they are all interdependent and interconnected in their function. This also means that dysfunction in one area or system of the body can lead to dysfunction in other areas of the body. As opposed to being a disease-centered approach like conventional medicine, functional medicine is patient centered. It aims to determine WHY things have gone wrong for you.

The difference between functional medicine and conventional medicine is the paradigm. Conventional medicine is a medicine of what. The objective in medicine is to figure out what is wrong with the patient, and which pharmaceutical is going to help with the symptoms. The objective of functional medicine is to figure out what is going on with the patient and WHY. Functional medicine examines the biochemistry and interconnected body systems to figure out where things have gone wrong and why. Treatment is then recommended in the form of natural supplements, dietary change, lifestyle modification, and stress reduction to correct the biochemistry and support the systems.

The length of your treatment and number of visits depends entirely on your condition and your compliance with recommended supplements and lifestyle change (diet, stress reduction). After your initial visit, Dr. Lindsey will have you visit again after reviewing labs. Initially, you may be asked to follow-up regularly (weekly or every other week), and as you progress and get better, follow-ups will be less frequent.
